Richard Parke

Richard Averell ("Dick") Parke (born December 13, 1893 in Staten Island , New York , † August 23, 1950 in St. Moritz , Switzerland ) was an American bobsledder .

Parke was a student at Cornell University . After graduating in 1916, he served in the First World War as an infantry officer on the Western Front in France . Later he spent his winter holidays in St. Moritz every year and came across the American bobsleigh team. Parke took part in the 1928 Winter Olympics and won the gold medal in the five-man bobsleigh. He finally settled in St. Moritz and was, among other things, the president of the local ski club.
