Lycium fremontii is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Lycium Fremontii is a 1 to 3 m tall, strong, tangled, branched shrub . Its leaves are hairy glandular, 8 to 35 mm long and 2 to 15 mm wide.

The flowers appear in two forms and are five-fold. The calyx is tubular and hairless to downy hairy. The calyx tube reaches a length of 4 to 8 mm, the calyx lobes are usually less than 1 mm long, only rarely do they reach a length of 2 mm. The crown is circular to broadly ovate, dark lavender or purple to white and provided with purple veins. The length of the corolla tube is 8 to 15 mm, the length of the corolla lobes corresponds to 1/4 to 2/5 of the length of the corolla tube. The stamens are hairless to densely tomentose at the base of the free-standing area.

The fruit is a red, elongated egg-shaped berry with a length of 5 to 9 mm. It contains 40 to 60 seeds .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 96 or 120.

Occurrence

The species is widespread in North America , where it occurs in the Mexican states of Baja California , Baja California Sur and Sonora , as well as in the US states of Arizona and California .
