Martin Putze (born January 14, 1985 in Apolda ) is a German bobsleigh athlete .

Career

Team Lange

Putze, who starts for the BSR “Rennsteig” Oberhof , began his international career in the 2004/2005 Bobsleigh World Cup . In his first World Cup race in André Lange's four-man bobsleigh , he only missed the podium by just 0.03 seconds with fourth place, at the same time as Pierre Lueders' Canadian bobsleigh . A week later he started in the two-man bobsleigh together with Lange and achieved his first podium with second place behind Lueders. He was also on the podium with the team in the four-man bobsleigh. After another successful start in Igls , Putze started at the Bobsleigh World Championship in Calgary in February , where he won the gold medal and thus his first world championship title. He won silver in the four-man bobsleigh at the 2005 European Bobsleigh Championships in St. Moritz.

In the 2005/06 season started plasters in Long Bob with a victory in the four-man event in Calgary. After a second place in Lake Placid and a fourth place in St. Moritz , Putze won the gold medal in the four-man bobsleigh at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin . At the 2006 European Bobsleigh Championship , he again won silver in the four-man bobsleigh. In the following 2006/07 season he started again with two wins in Andre Lange's four-man bobsleigh on the Calgary track. After two second places in Park City and Cortina d'Ampezzo , he won bronze at the 2007 Bobsleigh World Championship in St. Moritz. In the first World Cup after the World Cup, it was only enough to finish third behind the United States and Russia. At the 2007 European Bobsleigh Championship , however, he won the title in the four-man bobsleigh for the first time.

He finished all of the first World Cups of the 2007/08 season on the podium. Only in the four-man bobsleigh in Lake Placid did he miss the podium again after a long time with fifth place. In January he was back on top of the podium in the two-man bobsleigh in St. Moritz and was able to win again on February 10, 2008 in the four-man bobsleigh. Two weeks later he won his second world title at the 2008 Bobsleigh World Championship in Altenberg . But he missed the same success at the European Bobsleigh Championships in 2008 and ended up third.

The 2008/09 season was disappointing for plasters. Despite a few podium finishes, he was unable to jump to the top. At the 2009 Bobsleigh World Championships in Lake Placid, Putze again won silver with the four-man bobsleigh. Plasters got off to a bad start in the following season. He even missed the top 10 places in Cesana and in the end was only eleventh in the four-man bobsleigh with André Lange. On December 13, 2009, at the beginning of the 2009/10 season in Winterberg, he again achieved a podium finish with second place in the four-man bobsleigh. A week later he was back on top of the podium with Lange in Altenberg. The team also achieved this success in St. Moritz and Igls in January.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler , Lange won silver in the four-man bobsleigh.

Team Arndt

In the 2010/11 season behave launched plasters. Plaster, now part of Maximilian Arndt's bob , stood on the podium for the first time on December 19, 2010. At the 2011 North American Championships in Lake Placid, Putze and the team won both competitions in the four-man bobsleigh and the two-man bobsleigh. A week later, Putze started in the two-man bobsleigh with Maximilian Arndt at the Junior Bobsleigh World Championships and won the silver medal. He won gold in the four-man bobsleigh. At the 2011 World Bobsleigh Championship in Königssee , Putze missed the podium in the four-man bobsleigh for the first time in years and ended up fourth. On December 11, 2011, he was able to take the podium again with the Arndt four-man bobsleigh in La Plagne. Also in Königssee in January 2012 he again achieved a top position with third place. In St. Moritz he achieved his first World Cup victory in the Arndt four-man bobsleigh. After he won the four-man bobsleigh title again shortly after at the European Bobsleigh Championships 2012 in Altenberg, he won the silver medal at the 2012 Bobsleigh World Championships in Lake Placid.

At the 2013 World Bobsleigh Championship , he became world champion in four-man bobsleigh for the third time.
