Dermatological rehabilitation close to home

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Location Middle Dermatology Rehabilitation means the medical rehabilitation of patients with chronic skin diseases in his native air while maintaining the contact to their psychosocial environment. Rehabilitation close to home is in contrast to traditional rehabilitation far away from home, e.g. B. at the North Sea or in the mountains, where the skin-sick patient is usually far away from his family and friends for several weeks in a different than his usual, everyday climate ( climatic therapy ).

From the very frequent observation that the patient's skin condition (mostly with psoriasis = psoriasis or atopic eczema = neurodermatitis ) already worsens on the return journey from the health resort away from home or shortly after returning to the home climate and the home environment , the idea of dermatological rehabilitation close to home was born. In the Ruhr area, this idea was already born in January 1996 when Johannes Kunze and Bernd Kardorff founded the first German Center for Dermatological and Allergological Rehabilitation in the middle of an urban conurbation - Rhein-Klinik St. Joseph Duisburg put into practice. Various television documentaries (including Hobbythek neurodermatitis) have reported on this model project for patients with chronic skin disorders in recent years.
