Bernd Kardorff

Bernd Kardorff (born December 31, 1967 in Rheydt ) is a practicing, resident dermatologist , allergist , environmental medicine specialist and author. He has been working in his own dermatologist's practice in Mönchengladbach since 1999 . In recent years he has published various textbooks for doctors and non-fiction books for laypeople.

Life

After graduating from high school, Kardorff began studying mathematics and natural sciences in Mönchengladbach, followed by a doctorate at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . This was followed by further training as a specialist in skin and venereal diseases, allergist and environmental medicine specialist in the St. Barbara Hospital in Duisburg (chief physician Johannes Kunze). In 1996 he opened the first German dermatological rehabilitation clinic close to home in the middle of an urban conurbation (Rhein-Klinik St. Joseph Duisburg) and was its medical director until 1999. Since 1999 he has been a resident dermatologist in a group practice in Mönchengladbach.

Medical innovations

• 1996: Co-founding of the new therapy branch close to home dermatological rehabilitation
• 1997: Founder and initiator of the now traditional “North Rhine-Westphalian Psoriasis Days”, the largest nationwide event for people with psoriasis
• From 2000: Initiator and juror of the VDL Award of the Association for Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Medicine , the most important German-language scientific award for Aesthetic Dermatology and Laser Medicine (previously in the years 2000, 2002, 2005)
• 2000: Registration of the " Kardorff, Schnelle-Parker skin model " for skin care training for children with neurodermatitis at the German Patent Office in Munich
• Since 2001: leading publications on 308 nm excimer laser therapy for neurodermatitis, psoriasis and vitiligo
• 2003: Introduction of the American BRAVA system for non-surgical breast augmentation in Germany
• From 2003: Research on the effectiveness of fat-away syringes (injection lipolysis )

Awards

Science awards (selection):

• 1995, 1998 and 2002 winner of the manuscript awards of the Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart
• 1999: 2nd place in the international Hans Karrer Prize 1999 for dermatology in childhood

Other awards:

• Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded at the age of 41 by Federal President Horst Köhler, among other things, for his social commitment, the co-founding of the new therapy branch of local dermatological rehabilitation , the publication of textbooks on skin diseases that are understandable for laypeople, the co-invention of a skin model for neurodermatitis children and the care nationwide self-help groups (2009)
