Donat Ertel

Donat Ertel (born February 22, 1948 in Aschau im Chiemgau ) is a former German bobsleigh driver .

Donat Ertel started as a track and field athlete at TSV Grafenwöhr and TuS Prien . In 1968 he set his best performances of 10.8 seconds over 100 meters, 21.6 seconds over 200 meters and 48.9 seconds over 400 meters in the jersey of SB DJK Rosenheim .

In 1969 Ertel was one of the first German athletes to switch to bobsleigh, he then started for SV Ohlstadt and SC Riessersee . At the European Bobsleigh Championship in 1971 he won his first international medal as a push in the four-man bobsleigh by Horst Floth with bronze. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo, he took fifth place in the four-man bobsleigh with Horst Floth. In 1976 he won the German championship in the two-man bobsleigh together with Stefan Gaisreiter . At the European Bobsleigh Championships in St. Moritz in 1976 , the two finished second behind the Swiss Erich and Peter Schärer . Gaisreiter, Hans Wagner , Donat Ertel and Walter Gillik won the title in the four-man bobsleigh .
