Horst Floth

Horst Floth (born July 24, 1934 in Karlsbad , Baden-Württemberg , † October 6, 2005 in Feldafing ) was a German bobsleigh pilot . He is considered one of the most successful bobsleigh pilots of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

On November 27, 1968, together with his partner Pepi Bader, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting successes.

The trained hotel clerk Horst Floth and his brakeman Pepi Bader won the silver medal in the two-man bobsleigh at the Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble in 1968 and in Sapporo in 1972 . In 1970 both became world champions, a year later European champions in the two-man bobsleigh. The German champion was the pilot starting for the SC Riessersee in 1967 (with the brakeman Frank Lange ) and 1970. He was an honorary citizen of the Feldafing community. Horst Floth succumbed to cancer on October 6, 2005 at the age of 71.
