Hans-Jürgen Gerhardt (bobsleigh driver)

Hans-Jürgen Gerhardt (born September 5, 1954 in Altenburg ) is a former German bobsleigh driver who started for the GDR . He was active in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Gerhardt initially practiced athletics and started for the Motor Nord Erfurt association. His best performance in the 110 meter hurdles is 14.05 seconds. In 1976 he reported to the bobsleigh department of ASK Vorwärts Oberhof . There he met the bobsleigh pilots Meinhard Nehmer and Bernhard Germeshausen , whose brakeman he was. He rode in four-man bobsleigh with takers and two-man bobsled with Germeshausen.

Between 1977 and 1981 Gerhardt won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals at world championships, and between 1978 and 1983 three gold and five silver medals at European championships. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , he won the four-man bobsleigh and came second in the two-man bobsleigh.

Gerhardt was married to the former figure skater Kerstin Stolfig .
