Guido Acklin (born November 21, 1969 ) is a former Swiss bobsleigh athlete . Acklin took part in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he won the silver medal in the two-man bobsleigh with Reto Götschi . This was his greatest achievement, although he competed at two other Olympic Games in Nagano (1998) and Salt Lake City (2002), where he finished sixth and fifth, respectively. In 1994 he came in second with his brother Donat Acklin and teammate Gustav Weder behind the German four-man driven by Harald Czudaj, just 0.05 s behind . With Götschi he had achieved third place at the Bobsleigh World Championships in 1996 and won gold in St. Moritz the following year . In the European Championships they won first place in 1998 and 1999, second in 1996 and third in 1995 and 1997. He also won first place in the 1997 four-man bobsleigh competition with Götschi, Beat Seitz and Daniel Giger . Acklin retired from the sport in 1999, but had another short comeback in the four-man bobsleigh at the 2002 Winter Games together with Urs Aeberhard , Steve Anderhub and Christian Reich .
