Horst Bernhardt (born January 26, 1951 in Leipzig ) is a former German bobsleigh world champion who competed for the GDR .

Horst Bernhardt started out as a pusher at Horst Schönau . At the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Schönau, Bernhardt, Harald Seifert and Raimund Bethge finished fourth in the four-man bobsleigh . At the 1978 World Bobsleigh Championship in Lake Placid, Bethge was no longer in Schönau's bobsleigh because he had switched to Meinhard Nehmer . Horst Schönau steered the bobsleigh with the line-up Schönau, Bernhardt, Seifert and Bogdan Musiol to the world championship title. At the European Championships in 1978, the bobsled in the same line-up won the bronze medal behind the Austrian Fritz Sperling's bobsleigh and Meinhard Nehmer. At the European Championships in 1979, Nehmer won the four-man bobsleigh ahead of the Swiss Erich Schärer , while Horst Schönau's bobsleigh again took third place with Bernhardt, Andreas Kirchner and Bogdan Musiol.
