Kurt Meier (born April 6, 1962 ) is a former Swiss bobsleigh driver and Olympic champion .

Career

The professional programmer and analyst Kurt Meier from the bobsleigh club Zürichsee won the overall World Cup in 1986 together with the pilot Ekkehard Fasser . At the European Championships in Igls sat Meier in the four-man of Hans Hiltebrand . Hiltebrand steered the bobsleigh with the line-up Hiltebrand, Meier, Erwin Fassbind and André Kiser to the European championship title. At the 1986 World Bobsleigh Championship on the Königssee track , the Swiss four-man bobsleigh competed with Erich Schärer and won the title. Meier, Fassbind and Kiser drove to two titles in the same year with two different drivers.

A year later, Fasser drove the four-man bobsleigh at the Olympic Games in Calgary with Ekkehard Fasser, Marcel Fässler and Werner Stocker to win Olympic gold in front of the GDR pilot Wolfgang Hoppe .

After a few years without international assignments, Meier joined Gustav Weder's bobsleigh team in 1993 . In the line-up with Weder, Donat Acklin and Domenico Semeraro , this bobsleigh won the titles at the European Championship in St. Moritz and the World Championship in Igls in 1993. The following year, the four-man bobsleigh with Gustav Weder, Donat Acklin, Kurt Meier and Domenico Semeraro won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer.
