Jay James O'Brien (born February 22, 1883 in New York , † April 5, 1940 in Palm Beach ) was an American bobsledder .
O'Brien first took part in the 1928 Olympic Games in St. Moritz at the age of 44, where he won the silver medal in the five-man bobsleigh. At the 1932 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, he won the gold medal with the American four-man bobsleigh. With this success at the age of 48 years and 357 days, he was the oldest Olympic champion in the history of the Winter Olympic Games until 2006 . At the 1932 Winter Games, he was also the leader of the American bobsleigh team, the United States Olympic Bobsled Committee . He died of a heart attack in 1940.
