Jean Wicki

Jean Wicki (born June 18, 1933 in Sierre , Canton of Valais ) is a former Swiss bobsleigh pilot who won three medals in two Olympic competitions.

Jean Wicki started bobsleigh in 1960. He achieved his first international successes in 1968. At the European Bobsleigh Championship in 1968 he won the four-man bobsleigh together with Hans Candrian , Willi Hofmann and Walter Graf . Shortly afterwards, the four Swiss won the bronze medal at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . Wicki and Candrian finished ninth in the two-man bobsleigh .

Four years later, Jean Wicki drove the two-man bobsleigh with Edy Hubacher to third place at the 1972 European Bobsleigh Championships . At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , the two also received the bronze medal. Together with Werner Camichel and Hans Leutenegger, Wicki and Hubacher won the four-man bobsleigh.

The 1.72 m tall Jean Wicki was Swiss champion in the two-man bobsleigh in 1967, 1968, 1971 and 1972. He won the four-man bobsleigh in 1962, 1964, 1968 and 1970. After the 1972 Olympic Games, he retired from active sport.
