Ingo Appelt (bobsledder)

Ingo Appelt (born December 11, 1961 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian bobsleigh driver and politician ( FPÖ ). He has been working as a jeweler and jewelry designer in Fulpmes since 1981 .

Life

Ingo Appelt attended elementary school and secondary school in Innsbruck and then switched to the higher technical college for tool, machine and fixture construction in Fulpmes, where he graduated.

Appelt was Olympic champion in the four-man bobsleigh at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. In the 1987/88 season he won the overall World Cup and in 1987/88 and 1988/89 the four-man Bobsleigh World Cup. In 1989 he became European champion in Winterberg and won the bronze medal at the 1990 World Cup in St. Moritz.

Immediately after his Olympic victory, Appelt ended his career and took over his father's jewelry business. Afterwards he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament between April 5, 1994 and October 21, 2003, where he was elected via the state election proposal of the FPÖ.
