Bobsleigh World Cup 2009/10
The 2009/10 Bobsleigh World Cup began on November 9, 2009 in Park City and ended on January 24, 2010 with the 2010 European Championships in Igls . The highlight of the season was the 2010 Winter Olympics from February 20 to February 26, 2010 in Vancouver at the Whistler Sliding Center . The season was held in eight World Cup races and the 2010 European Bobsleigh Championship, parallel to the 2009/2010 Skeleton World Cup .
The German World Cup line-up was announced on October 20, 2009. The following pilots should initially represent Germany:
- Women: Sandra Kiriasis and Cathleen Martini were placed as medal winners at major events of the previous season, Anja Schneiderheinze-Stöckel and Claudia Schramm fought for third place on the grid , Schramm prevailed not least because of an injury to Schneiderheinze-Stöckel. This started next to Stefanie Szczurek and Christiane Wildgruber in the European Cup, trainer Christoph Langen kept fourth place open for changing young drivers.
- Men: André Lange , Thomas Florschütz and Karl Angerer were already determined before the elimination races after Matthias Höpfner's injury . The drivers Manuel Machata , Maximilian Arndt , Benjamin Schmid and Francesco Friedrich started in the European Cup . Also for Oliver Harraß , who injured himself during the qualification, there were still chances to participate.
