Christin Senkel (born August 31, 1987 in Ilmenau ) is a German bobsleigh athlete .

Career

Christin Senkel from BSC Winterberg lives in Erfurt and began pushing bobsleigh in 2008. She contested her first international race as part of the European Bobsleigh Cup . Together with the pilot Anja Schneiderheinze-Stöckel , she immediately won her first race in Winterberg . Two more wins followed in the season. The first highlight was her engagement in the team competition of the Bobsleigh World Championship 2009 in Lake Placid , where she started as a pusher with Cathleen Martini and finished seventh with Germany II . A good month earlier, she and her pilot Stefanie Szczurek won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Königssee behind the Swiss Sabina Hafner's bobsleigh . She has been competing in the Bobsleigh World Cup since the 2009/10 season . In her first race, she and Claudia Schramm finished fourth in Lake Placid. With Sandra Kiriasis , Senckel reached the podium for the first time in Königssee as third place. The following race in St. Moritz went even better with second place. She is nominated to push Kiriasis for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and achieved 4th place in the two-man bobsleigh.

Senkel actually belongs to Anja Schneiderheinze-Stöckel's team, but after good performance temporarily switched to Claudia Schramm in the World Cup. After she achieved the best times in a pre-Olympic test in early January 2010, she was assigned to the German number 1, Sandra Kiriasis, for the Olympic Games by national coach Wolfgang Hoppe . Within a very short time, Senkel was one after the other pushing all five of the then outstanding German bobsleigh pilots.

Christin Senkel is a member of the sports promotion group of the Thuringian Police .
