Patric Leitner (born February 23, 1977 in Berchtesgaden ) is a former German luge athlete .

Live and act

Together with his partner Alexander Resch , he won the gold medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and the bronze medal in the doubles at the 2010 Olympic Games . In 1999, 2003 and 2007 both became German champions. At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , the favored doubles only finished sixth. Four years later, Leitner and Resch achieved third place at the Olympic Games in Vancouver in the last race of their careers, after being only fifth in the first run, and won the bronze medal. In addition, Leitner , who started for WSV Königssee , became world champions in the two-seater together with Resch in 1999, 2000, 2004 and 2007. The duo from Berchtesgaden achieved a record number of 34 World Cup victories in ten career years. Leitner was a sports soldier in the rank of sergeant major in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Bischofswiesen . Since April 2009 he has been studying at the Cologne Trainer Academy . With the three-year part-time training, he is aiming for the qualification as a qualified trainer. At the same time, he works as an employee at the Federal Police Sports School in Bad Endorf . There he trains the Olympic champions Felix Loch and Natalie Geisenberger, among others .
