Andreas Linger (born May 31, 1981 in Hall in Tirol ) is a former Austrian luge athlete who, together with his younger brother Wolfgang, became a double Olympic champion and a three-time world champion in the doubles.

Career

In 2002, Andreas Linger and his brother took part in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and finished in 8th place. At the World Championships in 2003, the duo was able to triumph and also take third place with the team. At the 2004 European Championships, Andreas Linger was third in both the doubles and the team. The previous career highlights followed in 2006 with the Olympic victory at the Games in Turin and the title defense in 2010 at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . At the 2011 World Championships in Cesana , he and his brother won his second world championship title in doubles. After the Olympic Games in 2006 and the European Championships in 2008, it was already her third medal at major events in Cesana. Furthermore, they were able to successfully defend their world championship title at the 2012 World Championships in Altenberg. As part of the Austrian team , they took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where they won the silver medal. On March 30, 2014, Wolfgang and Andreas Linger announced the end of their active careers.
