The brothers Andreas Linger and Wolfgang Linger won their second title on the track in Cesana. Before that, they won the 2006 Olympic Games in the same place.
German doubles went without a medal for the first time since 1996. The leading duo in the World Cup, Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt , fell in the first run and was unable to start the second run due to an injury.

team

The competition in the team relay was initially canceled due to technical problems, rescheduled and finally canceled. In four of the eleven started relays, the starter gate did not open after the attack. In the case of two other relays, the timing did not stop at the finish. The run was then canceled and should be restarted three hours later - after the technical problems have been resolved. But since problems arose again during the first season, the competition was finally canceled. The day after the cancellation, the FIL technology partner took responsibility for the breakdowns.

The course of the competition was also a major setback in the FIL's efforts to include the team relay in the program of the 2014 Winter Olympics . The IOC , however, spoke Although in October 2010 for inclusion in the final decision postponed to observe the discipline in terms attractiveness and feasibility. The positive decision was finally made in April 2011.
