Vladimir Sergejewitsch Prokhorov ( Russian Владимир Сергеевич Прохоров ; born May 25, 1984 in Tschussowoi ) is a former Russian luge athlete .

Vladimir Prokhorov is a student and lives in Chusovoy. He has been a luge since 2000. He drives as Untermann in a two-seater.

His partner was initially Ivan Newmerschizki . Both contested their first race in the Luge World Cup at the beginning of the 2003/04 season in Sigulda and immediately finished eighth. The doubles only drove the second race of the season in Altenberg , in which they finished 19th. Despite these few appearances, the duo was able to finish 21st overall.

In the following season Newmerschizki / Prokororow took part in seven of the eight season races. They were among the top ten four times. In Altenberg they were able to improve their best result by one place to seventh place. In the overall standings they took 13th place. The 2005/06 season proved to be less successful for them with only one outing in Calgary with a not very good 21st place. 2006/07 was a mixed year. A good ninth place in Cesana Pariol is offset by a disqualification and a race that was not made, as well as some mediocre results. At the Luge World Championships 2007 in Igls , the Russians took 13th place. They achieved the same result a year later in Oberhof . At the European Luge Championships in Cesana in 2008 , they finished tenth. The 2007/2008 season of the doubles went rather badly next to the major events, in the overall ranking they reached the 24th place. During the 2008/09 season Newmerzhizky drove not with Prokhorov, but with Oleg Medvedev .

In the 2010/11 season Newmerschizki and Prokororow drove back together and achieved a 16th place in the overall standings. The highlight of the season was the 2011 Luge World Championships in Cesana, where they finished eleventh. Newmerschizki and Prokororow were also Russian champions in 2010. In the 2011/12 season they were able to improve significantly on the international scene, finishing seventh at the World Championships in Altenberg, 13th at the European Championships and eighth overall. After that, their performance fell, in the 2013/14 season they were only 29.

Since the 2014/15 season , Prokhorov started with a new double partner, Vladislav Yushakov . Their first season together turned out to be successful, they finished second at the first race in Igls , at the 2015 Luge World Championships in Sigulda they achieved 8th place and at the European Championships in Sochi they came in 6th place. They also came in sixth overall. In the following season, however, they only reached 27th place overall, although they came 12th at the 2016 Luge World Championships and 10th at the European Championships . They also won the Team Relay World Cup 2015/2016 in Sigulda and the World Cup Nations Cup 2015/2016 in Oberhof alongside Tatiana Iwanowa and Semjon Pavlitschenko . In the current season, Yushakov changed the doubles partner and has been driving with Yuri Prokhorov ever since .
