Andrij Kis (born May 27, 1982 in Lviv ) is a Ukrainian luge athlete .

Career

Andrij Kis is a student and lives in Lviv. He has been tobogganing since 1998 and has been a member of the national team of Ukraine since 2003. Initially, Kis competed in both singles and doubles since the 2002/03 season . He played his first individual in Oberhof and was 42nd. In Igls , he was able to improve to 39th place. In the following season he improved his best result to 28th place in Igls and was 43rd in the overall World Cup ranking. However, as in the following season, his missions were only sporadic, but he could no longer achieve an improvement.

Since the 2006/07 season , Kis has only competed in the doubles. There he made his first race in the 2003/04 season and was with his partner Jurij Haiduk 22nd in Sigulda and 16th in Altenberg . In the overall ranking they finished 23rd. In the following season Kis sledged both with Haiduk and at times with Anatoli Hurin . In Altenberg and Sigulda he was 21st with Hurin and 29th overall. With Haiduk, 18th place in Königssee was the best result. In the overall ranking they both finished 21. Since 2005/06 the double Kis / Haiduk has been part of the World Cup squad. In Oberhof, they achieved their best result in 17th place and placed 19th in the overall ranking. In Winterberg they started their first European Luge Championships in 2006 and finished 17th in the doubles and seventh in the team competition. Highlight was the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin , where the double at the competitions of Cesana Pariol were 14.

Even after that, Kis / Haiduk competed in the extended world class. In the 2006/07 season the best World Cup results were a 15th place in Winterberg and a 14th place in Sigulda. In the overall standings, both came in 14th place. At the 2007 Luge World Championships in Igls, they finished 18th. In 2007/08 , the Ukrainian doubles roughly held their performance. In Sigulda they achieved their best results of the season with places 13 and 14 and were 16th overall. They finished the 2008 World Championships in Oberhof in 15th place. They were one place better at the 2008 European Championships in Cesana Pariol. They achieved a new best result as 12th from Winterberg in the 2008/09 season . In the Challenge Cup of the 2008/09 season , Kis / Haiduk finished ninth.
