Jan-Armin Eichhorn (born May 8, 1981 in Sonneberg ) is a former German luge rider .

Career

The Schalkauer Jan Eichhorn was born in the district hospital in Sonneberg. He sled in a single-seater and is a member of the BSR Rennsteig Oberhof . He is in the A-team in the bobsleigh and sledge association for Germany . Eichhorn is a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr . In March 2006 he began the Bachelor's degree in International Management at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences , a course that was adapted at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and specially designed for top athletes. His sister Julia Eichhorn is a skeleton pilot .

In 2004 he was 1st at the German Championship and 4th at the European Championship. In 2005 he reached 4th place at the Luge World Championships . At the Luge World Cup 2005/2006 he was ranked 8th overall. At the 2006 Olympics he reached 6th place. His greatest achievement was winning the bronze medal at the 2007 Luge World Championships . At the 2008 Luge World Championships in Oberhof , he came in fourth. In 2010 he won the title of German champion for 2011. After the German championship in 2012 , in which he finished second, Eichhorn ended his sports career in January 2012. He attended the trainer academy in Cologne, where he trained as a qualified luge trainer.

Eichhorn married the former Latvian luger Maija Tīruma on July 7, 2018 .
