The early German Luge Championships 2011 took place from October 29th to 31st, 2010 on the Oberhof Luge Track . They were also the third station in the qualification for the Luge World Cup season 2010/11 . Due to the tight schedule, the championships were held in two races at the beginning of the season last year. The general class races were held on October 30th.

15 of 15 registered tobogganers were at the start. Natalie Geisenberger won the title for the second time after 2007 and beat Olympic champion Tatjana Hüfner just a touch. Hüfner was still in the lead after the first run. Defending champion Anke Wischnewski was already more than half a second behind the two strongest luge athletes in the world at the time. As expected, the World Cup starters placed themselves in the first six places, up to eighth place the starters of the extended German top followed.

Jan Eichhorn won his second German championship title after 2004 and only narrowly distanced Olympic runner-up David Möller, who missed his third title as well as defending champion Felix Loch his third title in a row. Loch was unable to compete in the second round due to a hip injury and was already back in sixth place after the first round. As expected, the first four places were made up by the other four long-time World Cup starters.

Four of the four registered toboggan doubles were at the start. With Wendl / Arlt, the strongest German toboggan duo at the time won its first title ahead of the newly formed duo Eggert / Benecken. Last year's champions André Florschütz and Torsten Wustlich as well as the two-time Olympic champions Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch had ended their careers after the previous season.
