The early German Luge Championships 2007 took place from November 2nd to 4th, 2006 on the racing sled and bobsleigh track in Altenberg , Saxony .
The title fights in the single-seater for women and men as well as the double-seater were held on November 4, 2006 and served as qualification and selection races for the 2006/07 Luge World Cup season . The titles went to Sylke Otto in the women's singles, David Möller in the men's singles and Patric Leitner / Alexander Resch in the doubles.

There were 10 starters. The German championship title was secured by Sylke Otto , who last competed in national championships and ended her career in January 2007 due to pregnancy . She did not achieve the best time in either of the two races, but was second best in each case. Silke Kraushaar-Pielach , who was still in first place after the first run, fell back to bronze due to a poor second run. The runner-up title was secured by Tatjana Hüfner , who - after finishing third in the first run - set the fastest time in the second run. Anke Wischnewski was fourth, Natalie Geisenberger landed around two hundredths behind in fifth place. Corinna Martini , Anja Eberhardt , Madeleine Teuber , Stefanie Sieger and Lisa Liebertt followed on the other ranks.

German champion was David Möller ahead of Dennis Geppert , who was still in the lead after the first run - in which Möller was around 3 hundredths behind due to a driving error in the lower section of the track. Despite this runner-up title, Geppert was unable to qualify for the World Cup team and then ended his active career. Jan Eichhorn came in third . Felix Loch finished fourth, more than half a second behind the podium . Johannes Ludwig , Denis Bertz , Andi Langenhan , Andreas Graitl , Peter Fischer and Eric Zöllner followed on the other ranks. Richard Grill fell in the first run and did not reach the finish line.

Seven pairs of doubles competed in the title fight for the national championship. The overall World Cup winners of the 2005/06 season, Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch , secured victory in front of the local heroes and defending champions Sebastian Schmidt and André Forker , who were inferior to their competitors in both races. In the end, it was their last national championships, the two-seater couple ended their active career with immediate effect after they were not nominated for the 2007 Luge World Championships . Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt took bronze in front of André Florschütz and Torsten Wustlich as well as Marcel Lorenz and Christian Baude . The local heroes Ronny Pietrasik and Christian Weise achieved sixth place on their home track in Altenberger Kohlgrund, followed by Ralf Rassmann and René Hengst in seventh place .
