Denis Bertz

Denis Bertz (born February 7, 1983 in Zwickau ) is a former German luge athlete .

The sports soldier from Oberwiesenthal has been tobogganing since 1993 and has been a member of the German national team since 2003. In the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons Bertz took fourth place in the overall ranking of the Junior World Cup. In 2003 he became Junior World Champion in Königssee . During his first World Cup event in Igls in 2003/04 , he fell, in the first race of the Luge World Cup in 2004/05 in Oberhof , he was 32nd, and in the overall standings he was 50th with nine points. A year later he was with a 19th place in Altenberg 45th overall. In the 2006/07 season he was only used in a single race, the one in Winterberg , and achieved his best World Cup result in sixth place. In the overall ranking he was 37.

After the end of his sports career, he took up a job as a junior regional trainer at the Olympic base in Oberwiesenthal.
