Andi Langenhan started for the RRC Zella-Mehlis . The member of the sports promotion group of the Thuringian police was appointed police master on July 4th, 2008 after successful training. At the FIL Summer Luge Cup, which took place annually in Ilmenau , Langenhan was four times winner and twice second. He attended the sports grammar school in Oberhof until summer 2004 and was able to celebrate numerous successes in the Junior World Cup.
In his first senior year ( 2004/2005 season ) Andi Langenhan was allowed to compete in the World Cups in Altenberg , Sigulda , Oberhof, Königssee , Igls and Winterberg . He convinced with good results like the 7th place in Oberhof, the ninth place in Königssee and the sixth place in Winterberg in the World Cup. Andi Langenhan was allowed to start at his first World Championships in February 2005 in Salt Lake City , where he finished 14th.
After good results in the selection races in October and November 2006, Langenhan was again nominated for some World Cup races in the 2006/07 season . His best World Cup result this season was fifth at his home World Cup on January 13, 2007 in Oberhof, where he also won the Nations Cup. In 2008 he was able to achieve third place at the 2008 Luge World Championships in Oberhof. At the start of the 2008/2009 Luge World Cup , Langenhan won his first World Cup race in Igls ahead of David Möller and Armin Zöggeler . After he had a lead of almost 0.1 seconds in the meantime, this was reduced to just over a hundredth of a second within the second round, but this was enough for the first World Cup victory in the seniors. At his first Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 , he reached fifth place.
In the 2010/2011 season , Andi Langenhan was twice on the World Cup podium. He secured silver on his home track in Oberhof , and came third in Paramonowo , Russia . He was also able to secure a bronze medal at the World Championships in Cesana Pariol . In the 2011/2012 season , Langenhan won three World Cup races ( Calgary , St. Moritz and Paramonowo). The victory at the season finale in Paramonowo was also the highlight of his career so far, as this race in Paramonowo was also rated as the 2012 European Championship . In the overall World Cup ranking, Andi Langenhan took second place behind Felix Loch. At the 2014 Winter Olympics from Sochi he missed a medal in fourth place only by one rank.
Langenhan ended his career after the 2018 Winter Olympics . Since 2018 he has been working as a trainer for the bobsleigh and sledge association for Germany as a perspective cadre trainer at the base in Oberhof, after successfully completing his diploma as an active athlete in Cologne.
