Markus Prock (born June 22, 1964 in Innsbruck ) is a former Austrian luge rider .

Life

Between 1981 and 2002 Prock won the overall Luge World Cup ten times and was world champion twice. He won three medals at the Olympic Games . In 1992 in Albertville and 1994 in Lillehammer he won the silver medal . At the end of his career, he won the bronze medal in Salt Lake City in 2002 . This makes him the most successful Austrian luge rider. His greatest competitor during his playing days was Georg Hackl , whom Prock could never leave behind at the Olympic Games.

Prock has been running his own sports agency in Innsbruck since 1997, through which he looks after Armin Zöggeler , Mario Stecher and Gregor Schlierenzauer , whose uncle he is, among others . His daughter Hannah Prock is also a luge athlete and member of the Austrian national team.

In 2008 Prock took part in the ORF soccer show “ Das Match ”.
