Harald Ehrig
Harald Ehrig (born November 6, 1949 in Zwickau ) is a former German luge rider who started for the GDR and the SC tractor Oberwiesenthal .
His career lasted from 1968 to 1975. During this time he was European champion and second (behind Wolfgang Scheidel ) at the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo . He also took numerous podiums at world and European championships before he had to end his career because of knee problems. He worked until December 2014 before retiring in the youth center in Langen (Hesse) as a career guide for young people with difficult future prospects in the cities of Langen and Dreieich .
Ehrig was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit for winning the silver medal at the 1972 Winter Olympics .
