Three years later, the collaboration between Scheidel and Köhler was ended because both athletes due to weight gain and Ä. Sporty no longer harmonized. From then on, Wolfgang Scheidel celebrated his successes more and more in individual competitions, where he experienced his sporting climax with winning the gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo , for which he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
