Balthasar swarm

Balthasar Schwarm (born September 11, 1946 in Bruckmühl ) is a former German luge athlete .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck , Balthasar Schwarm and Hans Brandner won the silver medal in the two-seater behind the East German duo Hans Rinn and Norbert Hahn . Already four years earlier in Sapporo the double finished fifth at the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid seventh. In 1979 they beat Rinn / Hahn at the world championships in Königssee . Two years earlier they won the bronze medal in Igls . At the European Championships they won gold once (1977) and silver (1972), as well as twice bronze (1973, 1980). In 1978 the duo came second and in 1979 third in the overall World Cup. In 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1979 and 1980 the two athletes starting for RC Berchtesgaden became German champions.

In 1976, together with his partner Hans Brandner , he received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements .
