Reinhard Bredow (luge rider)

Reinhard Bredow (born April 6, 1947 in Ilsenburg ) is a former German luge competitor who competed for the GDR .

He can go luge through his uncle Werner Elsner , a successful toboggan runner in the late 1950s. Bredow drove two-seater together with Horst Hörnlein and became Vice World Champion with him in 1969 and European Champion in 1970. The highlights then included the gold medal at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo and victory at the 1973 World Championships.

In 1972 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for his Olympic victory.
