Josef Thaler

Josef Thaler is a former Austrian luge rider .

Josef Thaler was a successful luge athlete from a successful luge family, especially in the mid-1950s. He and his partner Hans Krausner won the doubles title at the first Luge World Championships in 1955 in Oslo . In addition, he came second in the singles competition behind local hero Anton Salvesen . A year later, the bronze medal was added at the European Championships, which Thaler won with Luis Posch behind Wilhelm Leimgruber / Josef Unterfrauner and Erich Raffl / Stefan Schöpf .
