Stefan Krauße

Stefan Krauße (born September 17, 1967 in Ilmenau ) is a former German luge athlete .

Together with "Untermann" Jan Behrendt he started for the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof and the BSR Rennsteig Oberhof . In 1988 they won silver at the Olympic Games in Calgary , gold in 1992 in Albertville and bronze in 1994 in Lillehammer . In 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1995 they became world champions in the two-seater. After winning the gold medal at the Nagano Winter Games , the most successful luge duo ended their career. Stefan Krauße has been an honorary citizen of the city of Ilmenau since 1998.

In 1988 he was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit . In addition, he was honored on May 6, 2002 by being awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf.
