Brian Martin

Brian Martin (born January 19, 1974 in Palo Alto ) is an American luge athlete .

Brian Martin and his partner Mark Grimmette have been one of the most successful doubles in luge sport since the mid-1990s. You are to be regarded as the successor to the US world-class duo Chris Thorpe and Gordy Sheer . Martin started tobogganing in 1988. They were able to achieve podium placements 59 times in international competitions (18 × victory - 17 × second place - 24 × third place). Among her successes winning the bronze medal at the part 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and the silver medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City . In 2006 the duo did not finish. At the 2004 and 2005 World Championships, they won silver with the team, and in 2001 bronze. As a doubles they won the bronze medal in 1999 , 2000 , 2004 , 2005 and 2007 . They won the overall World Cup in the 1997/98 , 1998/99 and 2002/03 seasons , and came third in 1999/2000 . The double won nine races of the World Cup. There are also five national championships in the USA from 1998 to 2002 and 2005.
