Norbert Hahn
Norbert Hahn (born January 6, 1954 in Elbingerode (Harz) ) is a former German luge athlete . He learned tobogganing in Ilmenau , where he also trained in his youth, before moving to ASK Vorwärts Oberhof .
Together with Hans Rinn , he was Olympic champion in sledding at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck and 1980 in Lake Placid . There were also European championship titles in 1973, 1975, 1978 and 1980, the world championship title in 1977 and further medal ranks at world and European championships.
After studying at the DHfK in Leipzig, he took over responsibility for the tobogganers in his Oberhof club as head coach in 1989. Hahn was one of the most successful toboggan trainers in the world. His protégés won 6 Olympic gold medals, 21 World Cup and 24 European Championship titles as well as a total of 125 medals at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. The athletes he trained included a. the two-seaters Jörg Hoffmann / Jochen Pietzsch and Stefan Krauße / Jan Behrendt , Jens Müller , Silke Kraushaar and Tatjana Hüfner . Hahn retired in October 2017, but was still part of the coaching staff of German luge riders at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang .
Hahn received the Patriotic Order of Merit several times : in 1976 and 1980 in silver and in 1988 in bronze.
