Herbert Thaler

Herbert Thaler (* 1940 in Imst ) is a former Austrian luge rider .

Herbert Thaler belongs to an Austrian tobogganing family. In the late 1950s and early 1960s he was successful in both single and double seats. In 1959 he won the individual title at the Luge World Championships in Villard-de-Lans, ahead of his compatriot Josef Feistmantl and the Italian David Moroder . A year later he won the silver medal in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with Helmut Thaler behind Reinhold Frosch and Ewald Walch .
