The early German Luge Championships 2008 took place from November 1st to 3rd, 2007 on the Luge Track in Oberhof , Thuringia .

The title fights in the single-seater for women and men as well as the two-seater were held on November 3, 2007 and served as a test run for the 2008 Luge World Championships taking place on the Oberhofer Bahn at the end of January 2008 . They were also qualifying and selection races for the 2007/08 Luge World Cup season . The titles went to Natalie Geisenberger in the women's singles, David Möller in the men's singles and Patric Leitner / Alexander Resch in the doubles.

The German championship title was secured for the first time by Natalie Geisenberger , she set the best time in both races, and relegated the local heroes Silke Kraushaar-Pielach , who was runner-up at her last national championships, and Tatjana Hüfner to the other podium places. After the first run, Hüfner was still in second place, but got off to a bad start in the second run and fell one place back. Anke Wischnewski was fourth, Stefanie Sieger was fifth and Corinna Martini was sixth. Daniela Schwab , Lisa Liebert , Carina Schwab , Madeleine Teuber , Mareen Bartholomäi , Isabelle Hornung , Dajana Eitberger , Anika Kanis and Anne Pietrasik followed .

German champion was local hero David Möller ahead of Jan Eichhorn and Felix Loch , who won his first world championship title at the 2008 Luge World Championships in January 2008, making him the youngest luge world champion. Andi Langenhan , Robert Eschrich and Johannes Ludwig reached places 4 to 6. Denis Bertz , Andreas Graitl - who last competed in national championships and ended his career in February 2008 - and Peter Fischer completed the top 10. The later overall junior world cup winner of the 2007/08 season Sascha Benecken reached 12th place.

Seven pairs of doubles competed in the title fight for the national championship. The overall World Cup winners of the 2006/07 season, Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch , secured victory in front of the local heroes André Florschütz and Torsten Wustlich , who were inferior to their competitors in both races. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt took bronze in front of Marcel Lorenz and Christian Baude , who were around half a second behind in third place on their home track. The Saxon two-seater couple Ronny Pietrasik and Christian Weise reached 5th place, Toni Eggert and Marcel Oster followed in 6th place . Daniel Rothamel and Chris Rohmeiß , who were still in sixth place after the first run and finally reached the finish line more than 41 seconds behind, came seventh after a major mistake in the lower part of the track during the second run .
