The early German Luge Championships 2006 took place from October 21 to 23, 2005 on the luge track in Oberhof , Thuringia .

The title fights in the single-seaters for women and men as well as the doubles-seaters were held on October 23, 2005 and served as qualification and selection races for the 2005/06 Luge World Cup season . The titles went to Sylke Otto in the women's singles, David Möller in the men's singles and Sebastian Schmidt / André Forker in the doubles.

16 starters competed. Sylke Otto , who was still in second place after the first run, secured the championship title with the best time in the second run. Silke Kraushaar was runner-up. Barbara Niedernhuber , who was still the leader after the first run, achieved - after a serious start error in the second run - the bronze medal at her last national championships. Anke Wischnewski was fourth, Anja Eberhardt fifth and Corinna Martini was sixth. Tatjana Hüfner , Natalie Geisenberger , Astrid Scharfe and Anne Heckert completed the top 10.

12 starters competed in the men's singles. German champion was local hero David Möller ahead of Denis Geppert , who drove from 5th to 2nd with the best time in the second run, and Robert Eschrich . Andi Langenhan was fourth, Andreas Graitl fifth and Denis Bertz was sixth. Felix Loch was seventh in his first national championships of the elite; Richard Grill , Hans Kempter , Tobias Raßbach , Patrik Gutjahr and Johannes Ludwig followed on the other ranks . Ludwig was still in 9th place after the first run, but fell well behind to last place at his first national championships due to a driving mistake in the second run.

Seven pairs of doubles competed in the title fight for the national championship. After the first run, André Florschütz and Torsten Wustlich led ahead of Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch as well as Sebastian Schmidt and André Forker . Fourth were Toni Eggert and Marcel Oster , with Marcel Lorenz and Christian Baude , Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt as well as Sandro Stielicke and Carl Pelzer on the other places . Stielicke / Pelzer did not compete in the second run, which brought about some changes in the classification. Schmidt / Forker secured the championship title with a strong second run and fastest time, Leitner / Resch had to admit defeat by 24 thousandths. Florschütz / Wustlich slipped onto the bronze rank after a driving error in the lower part of the track. Lorenz / Baude and Wendl / Arlt followed in 4th and 6th place, as Eggert and Oster crossed the finish line well behind after a botched start.
