The WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal is a winter sports club with 300 members, which was founded in September 2002 to put traditional winter sports on the Fichtelberg on solid feet. In doing so, he continues the successful tradition of the SC Traktor Oberwiesenthal .

The association's work focuses on promoting young talent and introducing young athletes to competitive sport. Requirements for this are provided by the Oberwiesenthal federal base (as a branch of the OSP Chemnitz / Dresden), the elite school of winter sports (branch of the Annaberger Landkreis-Gymnasium St. Annen) and the sports boarding school. The association currently consists of the cross-country skiing , biathlon , luge , ski jumping and Nordic combined departments . Kurt Rehahn (2002–2007, 2012–2014), Klaus-Peter Weingardt (2007–2012), Peter Riedel (2014–2016) and Toralf Kirsten (2017) acted as chairmen of the association.

With the Sparkasse Ski Arena, the WSC operates a ski stadium for cross-country skiing and biathlon and organizes the Erzgebirge Ski Marathon. Numerous successful German athletes started and started for the club, including Viola Bauer , Denis Bertz , Eric Frenzel , Denis Geppert , Denise Herrmann , Andy Kühne , Lennart Metz , Erik Hänel , Lars Hänel , Tatjana Hüfner , Claudia Nystad , Sylke Otto , Ralf Palik , Tom Reichelt , Monique Siegel , René Sommerfeldt , Anke Wischnewski , Julia Taubitz and Torsten Wustlich .
