Denis Geppert

Denis Geppert (born January 24, 1976 in Lichtenstein / Sa. ) Is a former German luge rider .

Denis Geppert from WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal has been involved in luge sport since 1985 . Highlight of his career was taking part in the 2002 Olympic Games of Salt Lake City , where he reached the seventh place. He competed four times at world championships: 1999 (7th), 2000 (5th), 2001 (6th) and 2003 (10th). In addition, he took part in two European championships: in 2000 he finished fifth, and in 2002 he won the silver medal as the greatest success of his career.

His most successful years in the World Cup were in 2003/04 with a seventh place in the overall World Cup and in 2005/06 (8th). In German championships, the sports soldier also achieved several top places. In 2002 and 2006 he was runner-up and third in 2001 and 2005. At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin to Geppert did not qualify. After that, his further career was no longer particularly successful. Despite his runner-up title, Geppert could no longer qualify for the World Cup team. Therefore, he ended his active career in autumn 2006.
