Juris Šics (born April 26, 1984 in Sigulda , Latvian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Latvian luge rider .

Juris Šics is the brother of the luge driver Andris Šics , with whom he has formed a luge doubles since the 2004/05 season . In addition, he also competes with less success in the single-seater.

He started luge in 1998 and has been a member of the national team ever since. He has been competing in international races since 2003. The first notable success was the tenth place in the two-seater at the 2004 Luge World Championships in Nagano , which he still achieved with Sandris Bērziņš . He finished fifth with the Latvian team.

At the following World Championships in Park City , he and his brother finished tenth in doubles. They achieved the same placement at the 2007 Luge World Championships . In 2006, she joined the Olympic Winter Games of Turin and were seventh.

At the 2006 European Championships in Winterberg the double Šics / Šics came fifth and they won the bronze medal with the team. In the overall World Cup 2005/06 they finished ninth, 2006/07 eighth place.

With the team he surprisingly won the gold medal at the 2008 European Luge Championships in Cesana .

In the doubles, he and his brother Andris won the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics and the bronze medal in 2014 . At the 2018 European Luge Championships on the home track in Sigulda, Latvia, he and his brother finished second in a two-seater.
