Patrick Schwienbacher

Patrick Schwienbacher (born November 2, 1982 in Merano ) is an Italian luge athlete .

Patrick Schwienbacher from Ulten has been tobogganing since 1997. Since 2002 the Carabiniere has been a member of the Italian national team. Initially, Schwienbacher drove in a single-seater for a long time. He made his debut in the Luge World Cup in the 2002/03 season . His first race, in which he was 23rd, he contested in Oberhof . The best result of his first season was a 19th place in Igls , in the overall ranking he was 25th. The second season brought no improvements. Things got slightly better in the 2004/05 season , when a 15th place in Igls was the best result. Although Schwienbacher achieved worse results on average than before in 2005/06 , he was able to improve again in eleventh place on his favorite track in Igls. The two following seasons also showed slight deterioration rather than improvement in development. For the 2008/09 season , Schwienbacher switched to a two-seater with Hans Peter Fischnaller as the back man . In its first race, the new doubles achieved a good result in tenth place in Igls.

Schwienbacher competed several times at major events. At the 2004 European Luge Championships in Oberhof, he took 19th place, as well as in 2008 in Cesana Pariol . The Italian competed in the first Luge World Championships in Park City in 2005 and finished 16th there, and 18th in Oberhof in 2008 .
