Career

Sandra Gasparini is a student and lives in Sterzing. She has been tobogganing since 2004 and has also been a member of the Italian national team since then. Gasparini drove her first season with the seniors in 2006/07 . She made her debut at the Luge World Cup in the first race of the season in Cesana Pariol , where she finished 28th. In her second season three 16th places were her best results, with which she achieved her best overall result so far as 17th in the overall World Cup. The results of the 2008/09 season were only slightly worse . At the 2007 Luge World Championships in Igls , she finished 21st in the individual race and won silver with the Italian team in the team competition. At the European Luge Championships in 2008 she finished 12th in the individual and won bronze with the team. A year later at the World Championships in Lake Placid , she came in 18th place in the individual. In 2009 she became Italian champion. The 2009/10 season she started with rather mediocre results in Calgary and Altenberg , before she was able to increase her performance again. In Winterberg she achieved her first top 10 result in the World Cup with ninth place. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she reached 20th place. Shortly thereafter, she finished the season in 18th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the first race of the 2010/11 season Gasparini achieved sixth place in Igls and thus her best result in an individual World Cup race to date.
