Jason Terdiman (born December 21, 1988 in East Stroudsburg ) is an American luge athlete .

Career

Jason Terdiman lives in Berwick . Since the 2006/07 season, he has been tobogganing in a two-seater together with Christopher Mazdzer as the back man in a two-seater. In 2007 they won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, in 2008 they won silver behind Toni Eggert and Marcel Oster . In 2007 they were doubles involved in winning the silver team medal and in 2008 the gold team medal. In the 2007/08 season they came second six times in the Junior World Cup and were runner-up in the overall standings. In 2007 and 2008 they won the US Juniors title, and in 2008 they were also third in the US Championships. In the 2008/09 season the doubles made their debut at the beginning of the season in Igls in the Luge World Cup and finished 17th. This was followed by 16th in Sigulda and 14th in Winterberg .

In the 2010/11 season he and his new partner Christian Niccum achieved their first World Cup podium with third place in Winterberg. At the 2011 Luge World Championships in Cesana Pariol , the duo finished eleventh. In the following season 2011/12 his best placements were a fifth place in Winterberg and fourth place in the mixed team relay in Sigulda . At the Luge World Championships in Altenberg in 2012 , both finished 11th in doubles and thus barely missed a top 10 place again. In the winter of 2012/13 Terdiman only started at the pre-Olympic test world cup in the Sanki Sliding Center in Sochi , in which he achieved 12th place with Niccum. Niccum had previously injured himself, which is why he could not start with Terdiman as planned. Terdiman then focused on training and testing new technology in Lake Placid .

After Terdiman and Niccum started the 2013/14 season with only weak double-digit placements, they finally qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in the internal eliminations against Jake Hyrns and Andrew Sherk . There both drove to 11th place in the two-seaters. They both belonged to the team relay and took sixth place with them. After Niccum ended his active tobogganing career after the games, Matt Mortensen came to Terdiman as a partner for the following season. With his partner Niccum, he celebrated fourth place in the Nations Cup at the end of the 2013/14 season.

In the 2014/15 Luge World Cup , Terdiman and Mortensen celebrated their best two-seater result to date with second place at Königsee. Previously, in January 2015, he had already achieved second place in the team relay in Oberhof . The US team relay was also on the podium in Lake Placid and ended up third. Terdiman and Mortensen finished ninth at the 2015 Luge World Championships in Sigulda .
