The 2013 America-Pacific Luge Championships were held from December 5 to 7, 2013 as part of the 4th World Cup race of the 2013/14 season at the Whistler Sliding Center in Whistler , Canada . There were competitions in the single-seater for men and women and the two-seater. All competitions were decided in two runs, the results of the World Cup races in the respective disciplines were used for the evaluation. Athletes who did not qualify for the World Cup in the previous Nations Cup and thus could not take part in the competition for the America-Pacific Championships were ranked in the order of their placements in the Nations Cup.

The Canadian Alex Gough won in the women's singles, Christopher Mazdzer from the United States secured the title in the men's singles and the Canadians Tristan Walker and Justin Snith won the doubles classification .

Defending champion

In the past America Pacific Championships in 2012 in the US Lake Placid won Julia Clukey in single-seater of women, Chris Mazdzer in single-seater of the men and the doubles pair of Tristan Walker and Justin Snith .

The women's singles title was won by Canadian Alex Gough ahead of Erin Hamlin and Kate Hansen from the United States. Last year's winner Julia Clukey came fourth in front of Kimerberley McRae , Arianne Jones , her compatriot Summer Britcher and Jordan Smith . In the World Cup race, Gough crossed the finish line in second place behind the German Natalie Geisenberger . Hamlin and Hansen followed behind Anke Wischnewski and Tatjana Hüfner in 5th and 6th place. Cluckey was 11th, McRae 11th, Jones was 14th ahead of competitor Britcher and Smith was 17th. Only Gough and Hamlin were already on the seed list of the World Cup for the Qualified races. The other starters qualified through the Nations Cup race.

America Pacific Champion was American Christopher Mazdzer ahead of defending champion Samuel Edney from Canada and his fellow countrymen Tucker West and Taylor Cloy Morris . Mitchel Malyk , Aidan Kelly , John Fennell and Bruno Banani followed on the other places . The Australians Alexander Ferlazzo and Daniel Newton failed to qualify for the championship race over the Nations Cup and were ranked 9th and 10th respectively. Mazdzer finished second behind Felix Loch in the World Cup race , Edney was 6th, West was 11th, Morris crossed the finish line 17th and Malyk was 19th. Kelly finished the World Cup race in 21st place, Banani was 31st and the last driver to be ranked.

The doubles title won the Canadian local heroes Tristan Walker and Justin Snith ahead of Matthew Mortensen and Preston Griffall and Christian Niccum and Jayson Terdiman (both couples from the United States). Jacob Hyrns and Andrew Sherk came in fourth . In the Race-in-Race World Cup, the America-Pacific champions finished 4th. Mortensen / Griffall finished ninth, Niccum / Terdiman finished 12th. Hyrns / Sherk finished 19th, except for Walker / Snith, all starters had to compete in the Nations Cup qualify for the classification race.
