Tucker West (born June 15, 1995 in Ridgefield ) is an American luge athlete .

Life

Athletic career

West had his first international success at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . There he won the gold medal in the team relay. In the individual he came in 12th place. The following year he won the bronze medal with the team relay at the Junior World Championships in Park City . She competed in her first World Cup at the beginning of the 2013/14 season in Lillehammer and finished 28th. His best season single placement in the World Cup, which he finished in 24th place in the overall single-seater World Cup at the end of the season, was 11th in Whistler . In Winterberg he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place with the team relay. At the season highlight, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he came in 22nd place. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won his first World Cup victory in Lake Placid . With the team relay he was third there. In the further course of the season he came second in Calgary and third in Winterberg . In January 2015 he won the silver medal in singles at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer. At the highlight of the season, the 2015 Luge World Championships in Sigulda , he finished 18th. He finished the season in sixth place in the overall single-seater World Cup. After finishing seventh in Innsbruck-Igls at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , he again achieved a podium finish with second place in Lake Placid. Further top ten results followed in the season, including third place in Sigulda. At the 2016 Luge World Championships at Königssee he finished 15th in the sprint race and sixth in the single-seater. At the end of the season he finished seventh in the overall single-seater World Cup.
