The Luge America Pacific Championships 2017 were held from December 7th to 9th, 2017 as part of the 4th World Cup race of the 2017/18 season on the bobsleigh and racing sled track in Canada Olympic Park in Calgary , Canada . There were competitions in the single-seater for men and women and the two-seater. All competitions were decided in two runs, the results of the World Cup races in the respective disciplines were used for the evaluation. Athletes who did not qualify for the World Cup in the previous Nations Cup and thus could not take part in the competition for the America-Pacific Championships were ranked in the order of their placements in the Nations Cup.

The titles all went to the Canadian team. Alex Gough won the women's singles, Samuel Edney won the men's singles title and Tristan Walker and Justin Snith won the doubles classification .

Defending champion

At the last America-Pacific Championships in 2016 in Park City, USA, members of the US team won with Erin Hamlin in the women’s singles, Tucker West in the men’s singles, and the doubles Matthew Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman .

the title in the women's singles was won by Canadian Alex Gough in front of her teammate Kimberley McRae and the American Summer Britcher . Gough finished in second place behind the German world champion Tatjana Hüfner in the World Cup race , McRae crossed the finish line in fourth behind Natalie Geisenberger , Britcher was fifth. Defending champion Erin Hamlin finished sixth behind her teammate Emily Sweeney and Canadian Brooke Apshkrum . The US-American Raychel Michele Germaine and the Argentine Verónica María Ravenna could not qualify in the Nations Cup for the rating race of the America-Pacific Championships and were ranked 7th and 8th according to the order of the results of the Nations Cup.

America Pacific Champion was the Canadian Samuel Edney , who won the championship title ahead of his teammate Mitchel Malyk and the American Christopher Mazdzer . Edney achieved second place in the regular World Cup race behind the German Felix Loch , Malyk was fourth behind the overall World Cup winner of the 2016/17 season , Roman Repilow , Mazdzer was 14th. Defending champion Tucker West was 16th in this race, finishing fourth America-Pacific Championship rankings. Reid Watts , Taylor Cloy Morris and John Fennell followed in places 5 to 7. The Australian Alexander Michael Ferlazzo and the Argentine Rubén Oscar González could not qualify in the Nations Cup for the rating race of the America Pacific Championships and were placed according to the order of the results of the Nations Cup ranked 8th and 9th.

Four pairs of doubles took part in the competition, for which only the defending champions Matthew Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman did not have to qualify via the Nations Cup because they belonged to the seeded group of the World Cup. The title of the America-Pacific Championship was won by the only Canadian duo, Tristan Walker and Justin Snith , ahead of the US defending champions Matthew Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman as well as Justin Garret Krewson and Andrew Sherk . In the regular World Cup races, the winners Walker / Snith came in 6th, Mortensen / Terdiman came in seventh, the two-seater couple Krewson / Sherk in 11. The US two-seater Jacob Hyrns and Anthony Espinoza took the only non-medal place .
