At the 2007 World Championships in Innsbruck he was seventh in the single-seater. In the mixed team, he finished sixth with his teammates.
A year later he won the title with the mixed team at the 2008 European Championships in Cesana . The team repeated this success at the 2010 European Championships in Sigulda. At the 2011 World Championships in Cesana, Rubenis was eleventh in the single-seater. In Altenberg 2012 and Whistler 2013 he reached places 19 and 12. In the winters 2012/13 and 2013/14 he again achieved two top 20 positions in the overall World Cup with places 14 and 13.
