Ionuț Țăran
Ionuț Dorin Țăran (born April 8, 1987 in Toplița , Harghita County ) is a Romanian luge athlete .
Ionuț Țăran lives in Sărmaș and has been tobogganing since 1999. He rides in a two-seater with Cosmin Chetroiu . The duo has been competing in the Luge World Cup since the 2005/06 season . In their first season they finished 16th in Altenberg, their best result so far in a World Cup race. In the overall ranking, they also achieved their best result to date with 23rd place. The first major event in which the doubles took part was the 2006 European Luge Championship in Winterberg . Here they came in 18th in the two-seater competition and ninth in the team competition. At the Olympic Games in Turin , which took place shortly thereafter , they could again be 18th. At the 2007 Luge World Championships in Igls , Chetroiu / Țăran came in 25th and at the Olympic Games in Vancouver , 17th.
