Trainer Academy Cologne
The Cologne Trainer Academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation is the training center for the highest trainer license in Germany. Upon graduation, the graduates acquire the title “Diplom-Trainerin / Diplom-Trainer of the German Olympic Sports Confederation”.
history
The Cologne Trainer Academy of the DOSB was founded in Cologne in 1974. The sponsor is the "Verein Trainerakademie Köln des DOSB e. V. ”, which is made up of representatives of the public sports administration and the sports self-administration. The board of trustees for the trainer academy supports this association in an advisory capacity. Since 1974, 1,360 coaches from 49 different sports have successfully completed the coaching academy. The certified trainer course at the trainer academy is carried out part-time and includes general principles as well as cross-sport and sport-specific content. The course lasts three years and comprises at least 1300 learning units. As the fourth and highest license level, the course is an integral part of the framework guidelines for qualification in the field of the German Olympic Sports Confederation and concludes with the qualification as a "state-certified trainer of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia" and the title of "Diplom-Trainer des DOSB" from. The aim is to acquire the qualification for a full-time job in competitive sports. Subsequent areas of work can be: sports director, national or state coach, assistant coach, base or club coach. The technical college entrance qualification, the Trainer A license and the sport-related approval of the application by the umbrella association form the admission requirements for the course.

The Cologne Trainer Academy initially consisted of seven leading associations ( boxing , weightlifting , fencing , hockey , judo , wrestling , swimming ). Today (2016) the association has 68 members:
- 48 umbrella associations, including all Olympic umbrella associations
- all 16 regional sports federations,
- Institute for Applied Training Science / Institute for Research and Development of Sports Equipment
- German Sports Aid Foundation
- German Olympic Sports Confederation
- German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention .
The trainer academy is internationally networked in the association of trainer academies ( International Council for Coaching Excellence ) and works closely with the Sport University Cologne and the Institute for Applied Training Science Leipzig.
